JOB DUTIES

Assist attorneys with immigration court cases before immigration judges, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.  Ms. Diaz drafts court pleadings and prepares filings requiring close contact with clients and attorneys. Ms. Diaz has gained particular expertise in U visa and VAWA applications, cancellation of removal applications and securing government documents for investigation of complex cases.

BACKGROUND

Ms. Diaz has been working with the Andrade Law Office since February 1, 2006. A native of Peru, Ms. Diaz brings energy, innovation, personal immigration experience, and financial expertise to the office. Ms. Diaz came to the United States university studies in Peru, with a temporary visa in 2000. She later obtained her lawful permanent resident status.  In December of 2008, Ms. Diaz obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boise State University with a B.A. in Business and concentration in International Business and Finance.

Ms. Diaz is the first point of contact for all new and ongoing clients.  She manages the office schedule. Clients with court matters will work closely with Ms. Diaz to gather documents, make affidavits, and develop evidence to assist their case.

When asked why she works in immigration law, Mariella says “I love working with immigrants and  helping them attain their goals. This is a country of immigrants, many of whom are natural entrepreneurs who take risks to improve themselves and their families. It is hard for me to see immigrants treated unfairly because they are some of the most hard working people I’ve met.”

In her free time, Ms. Diaz can be found teaching step-aerobics, mountain biking, organizing team training for the annual office triathalon and watching the Brazilian soccer team.
