RETALIATION


Under many federal and state laws, an employer may not take an adverse employment action against an employee as a means of punishment for exercising a right protected by law or assisting another to do so.  Adverse employment actions include, but is not limited to, firing, demotion, pay decrease, etc.  Assisting another could be helping the person complain, acting as a witness in a case, bringing a lawsuit against your employer for other violations of law.
