Press Conference Announcing Immigrant Justice Idaho

Immigrant Justice Idaho is Idaho will officially become the only Dept of Justice recognized Free Legal Services Provider and Referral Service for Individuals in Immigration Court Proceedings as of October 1, 2018. IJI will announce why it was formed and its goals of becoming Idaho’s immigrant rights advocacy and education organization. Speakers will discuss the unique needs of Idaho’s non-citizen community and include founder, Maria E. Andrade, Judge Sergio Gutierrez, a former Andrade Legal pro bono client. Speaking invitations are also extended to members of the educational community and the refugee community.

The news of children being taken away from their parents at the border when arriving seeking asylum has generated extreme reactions from the public about the moral foundation of our immigration policies and raised questions about how current policies differ from prior administrations. This panel includes individuals, like Ms. Andrade, who have worked with these families at the southern border and provides a first-hand account of the on-the-ground aftermath of the family separation policy.
